The Sky as a Beautiful Creation

If you have ever looked into the night sky you will surely admit it is one of the most beautiful things God ever created. He has named everyone and calls them by name. When you look into the sky you will see the stars, planets and the moon at night and the sun during the day. During the different seasons of the year the planets are aligned differently. Sometimes of the year there are planets that are so close to the Earth you can see them in the daytime.

If you live in the Northern part of the hemisphere the sky will look different than what your friend in the Southern Hemisphere sees. If you live in Maine it will look different from the California sky. The summer sky will look different from the more intense Autumn or Winter sky. If you see the dark clouds in the sky in the summer they may hold a lot of water and then dump it on the earth. In the winter the dark clouds will hold water but dump it as snow.

The sky helps to hold out the bad rays of the sun and the sun is just in the right place so we don't freeze or burn up. If it weren't for God's wonderful plan for his creations the sky would not be important. Just try to think where we would be if not for Gods wonderful creation of a beautiful sky for us to live under and the birds to fly in.

The Beautiful Night Sky

The beautiful night sky has not changed so we would notice. A few things have fallen out of the sky, but it left no void. Did you know that man-kind has a name for every star, and star gazers like to address them as such? If you want to watch the night sky, go to the country away from city lights and lay on a blanket on the ground; take a deep breath and enjoy the serenity. If that gets you hooked on stargazing, get a telescope and watch the stars and planets. This is a stress relieving, scientific hobby.

You can buy a gadget (for lack of a better word), called a Night Sky Navigator. It is a toy of sorts that will show the night sky and everything in it, and you won't have to go lay on the ground to see it. However, it is much more fun and educational to see the night sky as it really is. If you live in the East, the sky will look different than what your friend sees in the Western sky.

The planets are a in a different position in the summer sky than in the winter sky. If you are into watching the moon, you may see a ring around it. This signals coming rain. When in the fall, the moon is orange, it is called a harvest moon. Sometimes the moon is so bright you will not see a single star or planet, and sometimes a planet is so close to the earth, that you can sometimes see it during the day.

"The Sky is Falling"

Have you ever heard the phrase "the sky is falling?" It was not what happened when Chicken Little got hit on the head with the acorn. Everyone knows that story and if you don't you had better be reading Aesop's Fables. His story, as many do have a moral, is not about being chicken but about having courage. This is how the phrase came into being many years back in England and carried over into modern literature.

Although the sky is literally falling we need not be too concerned. Many meteors fall and hit the moon everyday, if you notice a picture close-up of the moon you can see the craters. Many thousands of tons of them fall. Some do reach Earth, Crater Lake in Oregon is one, the big crater in Arizona is another and there is a small one just outside of Odessa, Texas. Others are in Africa as well as all over the world.

When you see a falling star, yes that is the sky falling. Not exactly the sky, just the objects in it. Falling stars are meteors that fall out of their orbits and plummet toward Earth. Once in a while one reaches Earth but most times they burn up when they reach the atmosphere. Sometimes there may be space junk that falls to earth but most pieces are so small no one ever notices. For more information about the sky is falling just search the internet for "the sky is falling" and spend many hours reading about it.

What a Sunrise!

The beauty of a sunrise is something that just plain can not be denied. The wonderful yellows, reds and oranges that are caused by the refraction of light through atmospheric particulates can just take your breath away. There is not doubt that you can see gorgeous sunrises anywhere in the world, but they are seen more often in some places than in other.

Islands are great places to watch the sunrise. You can see all the color spread out over the ocean with nothing to obstruct your view. If you head to Hawaii, you will find brilliant sunrises almost every morning, and as many different ideas of the best place to watch.

If you are headed to the British Isles, you can see some magnificent sunrises. If you want watch how the sky wakes in the morning through the mist of the moors at Rannoch Moor in the Highland region. Or for a true delight, you can go to Saltwick Bay in North Yorkshire. It is one place on Earth that you can stand on the coast and see both the sunrise and sunset out of the sea.

Sunrise over the desert is insane. The colors are so intense, and the backdrop so stark that the contrast is phenomenal. Arizona Highways Magazine has brought people to the state just to see the sky with their photos of sunrises and sunsets.

Want an entirely different view of the sun rising, get above the clouds. All of a sudden, you not only have the color of the rising sun, but you have it contrasted against the darkness of the clouds. It is well worth getting up early just to see what colors the sun is going to be.

What is a Peaceful Sky?

How would you describe a peaceful sky? Would it be a totally blue sky or would it also have a few cumulus clouds in the blue sky? Sometimes a peaceful sky would include mixed cloud types, multiple layers or contrasting cloud forms at different levels. What would your idea of a peaceful sky look like? Would the picture include palm trees gently bowing in the breeze along an ocean beach?

Some popular paintings include a dramatic mountain range on the horizon and closer mountain peaks with green meadows in the foreground. To add to the peacefulness of the scene is a rambling cool stream. Other paintings of a peaceful sky may portray the fiery colors of a summer sunset. Another sunset painting may show soft colors in the fading sunlight. A peaceful sky could be painted on the ocean waves and gentle foam on the horizon under a blue sky.

Another painting of a peaceful sky could include birds in flight, particularly seagulls against a blue sky. The golden colors of the trees along the river on an autumn day under a soft blue sky would make a peaceful view, too. These images and paintings could be replicated on blankets, clothing like t-shirts and jackets, as well as wallpaper and screensavers on the computer and other technical displays. There is a website (www.skyartstock.com) where you can find a stock photo gallery of selected cloud and sky images that convey a peaceful mood. Sometimes a rainbow in all its colors can add to a peaceful sky.
